Although the announcement of January 1, 2017 will probably be delayed by about two months, the SII will come into effect. With this new working scheme, the Tax Agency is radically changing the way VAT return forms are submitted. The SII sets out a series of requirements that affect different areas related to tax filing, from accounting to IT. Although the Royal Decree has not yet been approved and the date of the first quarter of 2017 is still some way off, the changes to be made and the implications of the SII project are very significant. Submission will be completely online and based on predefined and specified format and communication requirements.
